Jason Louis Zarri Memorial Scholarship, The

COLLEGE OF LIBERAL & CREATIVE ARTS
This scholarship will be awarded for the 2025-2026 Academic Year. Students must enroll HALF-TIME (4 units graduate) during the 2024-2025 Academic Year to receive the scholarship

The Jason Louis Zarri Memorial Scholarship is supported by donations from the family of Jason Zarri, a former undergraduate and graduate student in the Philosophy Department at San Francisco State, and other contributions in Jason’s honor.

Jason grew up in Concord, CA and attended St. Agnes Catholic School from kindergarten through the 7th grade. Jason’s family endured some tragedies which greatly impacted Jason. He began to suffer from mental illness at age 10. He persevered and took several courses at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill. He was attracted to philosophy and studied at San Francisco State, where he stood out for his knowledge and kindness, and earned his B.A. degree and worked as a Teacher’s Assistant. He truly was a great reader and student, with a very logical mind. He founded the website Scholardarity with his friend Peter. Its mission was to bring scholars and students together to push the frontiers of knowledge with papers in History, Philosophy, Literature, Religion, Education and Theology. In spite of the adversities he faced, he was an extraordinary person of tremendous talent and virtue. Many of his friends, fellow students, and professors spoke of him very highly.
