Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund

  • Scholarship Intent: To provide postsecondary education assistance to an entire generation of financially needy dependents of those killed or permanently disabled in the 9/11 attacks and their aftermath.
  • Criteria:
    1) Eligible recipients are financially needy dependents of those killed or permanently disabled as a result of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, and during the rescue activities relating to those attacks.
    2) Specifically, the Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund and its subfunds benefit the children, spouses, and domestic partners of the victims, including airplane crew and passengers, World Trade Center and Pentagon workers and visitors, and relief workers, including firefighters and emergency medical personnel and law enforcement personnel.
    3) Currently enrolled or planning to enroll at a 2- or 4-year college, university, or vocational school in the US. Scholarship assistance is based on financial need. Renewable up to 4 years.
