Dorothy Bryant Prize in Creative Writing

  • Scholarship Award Period: This scholarship will be awarded for the upcoming Fall semester.
  • Awarding Department: Liberal & Creative Arts, Creative Writing Department.
  • Scholarship Intent: To provide awards on a competitive basis for works by graduate students in good academic standing in Creative Writing, enrolled in at least a one-unit class.
  • Criteria: To be considered for the award, students must upload a work in progress and a brief description (no more than 200 words) of how this award would make a difference in their development as creative writers. Based on the nature of their creative work, the guidelines for submissions are as follows:
    a. For playwriting Submissions: 20-40-pages.
    b. For fiction and Creative Non-fiction Submissions: 20 pages.
    c. For poetry Submissions: 10 pages.
    d. For translation submissions: 10 to 20 pages.
  • Major: Single: Creative Writing MA & MFA
  • Class Level: Grad: Masters/MFA
  • Enrollment Status: Continuing and entering students.
  • Enrollment Requirement: Grad: 1 UNIT
  • Financial Need as determined by the FAFSA and/or CA Dream App: No.
  • Citizenship: Any.
