Associated Students/Angela Bukle Memorial Scholarship

The scholarship award ($1,500.00) will be disbursed during the Fall 2025 semester. To be eligible students must be enrolled at least half time (6 units) during the Fall semester 2025 when the awarded funds will be disbursed to the student’s account. Associated Student part-time staff and Board of Directors working in any capacity during the period of disbursement are not eligible to apply.

Angela Marie Bukle was born May 13, 1991 in Montclair, California. Angela was a studious woman who loved to dance and reach out to her community. Angela graduated from the School of Arts and Enterprise in Pomona, California where she learned lyrical interpretive and hip-hop dance. Angela was a Political Science major at SF State and planned to continue to law school with the goal of being a congresswoman. One of Angela’s strengths was unifying people in the spirit of inclusion and through her work and activism on campus.

Angela was a student leader who loved SF State, community and family. On campus she served as the parliamentarian for the Fraternity Sorority Council, coordinator for the Black Student Union, VP for the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, and in various leadership positions in the Black Sorority Fraternity Council. She also participated in the Associated Students elections and the Annual Associated Students Women’s Conference in spring 2012. Her passion for working with youth led her to Associated Students’ Project Connect where she worked to motivate students to pursue higher education. She made it a point to always try to help youth in any way possible by participating in campus tours, panel discussions and performances. Off campus she participated in events such as the March of Dimes Walk and the AIDS Walk.

On June 19, 2012, Angela Bukle passed away suddenly at the age of 21 in her Southern California family home. She had just started working as a dance teacher for a summer school program at her former high school, where she was excited to teach students hip-hop dance. Her passion to volunteer and empower youth was exemplary.

    3) Applicants must demonstrate an exceptional level of involvement in the civic leadership at San Francisco State University through volunteer work with student organizations and/or community service groups off-campus empowering youth.
