These Nelson Graduate Scholarships for Conservation Biology will be awarded in Fall 2023
Current Graduating Seniors that have been accepted to the graduate program are encouraged to apply.
Scholarship recipients are strongly encouraged to attend the Donor Recognition and Scholarship Award Reception in early November 2023.

  1. An essay of less than 1000 words covering the following topics: (a) description of your research and how it relates to conservation biology for a broad audience; (b) your professional goals; and (c) the impact of the scholarship would have on your life.
  2. Recommendation from your primary research mentor / SFSU academic advisor. The recommendation should detail the faculty member’s familiarity with the student, the value of the student’s proposed research, and the student’s ability to successfully conduct and complete the proposed project. Must be received by May 12th.
  3. A second recommendation letter from a faculty member or a supervisor. Must be received by May 12th.
