Students must be enrolled at least half time (6 units) during the Fall 2019 or Spring 2020 semester when the awarded funds get disbursed.

Delmy Rodriguez was born in San Salvador, El Salvador on August 22, 1955. From 1975 to 1979 she studied Psychology at the National University of San Salvador. In search of a better life and to flee from her country’s harsh Civil War, Ms. Rodriguez and her eldest son immigrated to the US in 1980. They finally settled in San Francisco in 1981, and Ms Rodriguez began her work at the Cesar Chavez Students Center in 1984. To support herself and her son, she served as a facility worker for the evening shift. One evening, as she went about her normal work tasks, she collapsed and fell into a coma. Rebuilding her health was difficult and brought many challenges which took her life a few short months later, in July of 1998. The Cesar Chavez Student Center benefited greatly from the numerous contributions of this loyal and dedicated employee. In December of 1998, the CCSC posthumously recognized Delmy Rodriguez as Employee of the Year. In 2004, the Associated Students Board of Directors named a scholarship in honor of her legacy, in the hopes of supporting the dreams of immigrant students and families.
